Introducing The Thatched Bonni

We are very excited to introduce our newest Bonni, built in place of our little green Bonni Small, which recently left us here in Oxfordshire for its new home in the Cotswolds.

Although we were sad to say goodbye, it gave us the opportunity to create something new. It is still very much a Bonni Small, but with a traditional straw-thatched roof, a hidden side door set within the raw oak cladding, rectangular windows that open out onto the garden, and our signature Bonni round window up in the eaves.

We gave it a little window box too, for the bees.

Inside, it has painted timber panelling and oak floorboards. Pretty wall lights and swinging pendant. It is a peaceful place for writing in the mornings, whiling away the day, and closing the door to retreat from daily life.

Rooted in our love of honest architecture, the Thatched Bonni brings together traditional craftsmanship and natural materials. The straw roof and raw oak bring warmth and character, while the pale pink and rusty red windows carry the earthy tones of the garden into the building. The changing seasons will bring a lovely patina over time.

Straw thatch is naturally insulating, trapping air within its layers to provide warmth in winter and protection from the heat in summer. Carefully laid to carry rainwater away from the building, it is a material shaped by tradition, made to withstand the seasons and age gracefully over time. Built with care, integrity and close attention to detail, it is made to stand the test of time and become a natural extension of the home - somewhere to be lived in and enjoyed throughout the year.

The traditional straw-thatched roof is now available as an option across the Bonni collection.
