Goodbye, Little Green Bonni

This was our first Bonni Small, and one we built for ourselves.

It came about from a stack of pale green roofing we didn’t want to leave unused, after a change of heart on a Bonni Large. We had adventurous plans for it as a pool house, sitting beside a natural swimming pond that never quite happened.

Instead, it found its place and became a happy room in the garden, sitting close to the house.

In the early days of Bonni, it was where we escaped from working at the kitchen table - a peaceful writing space in the mornings before the day began. Over time it became somewhere for yoga and working out, and in the summer, with the doors open, a place to sit and listen to the birdsong.

Like many of our Bonnis, it changed with the days, and with us. But it was always part of the garden, and part of everyday life.

After much persuading from a visitor who had fallen in love with it, last week it left Oxfordshire for a new home in the Cotswolds.

Lifted out and lowered into place by crane - not our usual way of working - and set into a beautiful garden in Churchill, overlooking the church and sitting prettily amongst the soft green tones of the surrounding houses.

It felt instantly at home, and instantly loved.

We will miss it hugely, but we are working on something new in its place - something that will bring new life to the garden, which we are looking forward to sharing with you soon.
